Drop-In Center
The Drop-In Center is a place where young people can have a respite from the harsh realities of the street. Here, youth are encouraged to relax in a safe atmosphere designed specifically for their needs in hopes that they’ll find much needed community and connection. The kitchen is stocked and ready for a hungry unhoused young person to make themself a meal. The private break-out rooms are equipped with high-speed wi-fi, providing a quiet and private place for youth to study, check emails, apply for jobs, research education options, and much more. Comfy couches with a big screen TV and a small library are available for youth to “chill” in a safe area; the common area is often taken over by art projects, puzzles or board games; and the outdoor patio has basketball, foosball, and even a youth designed and managed garden.
The Drop- In Center has provided youth a place to feel safe off the streets and an opportunity to engage in intense case management, mental health, and substance use services that they may not be able to access otherwise.
Program Impact
In FY22, 312 youth who were contacted by Street Outreach received follow-up services at the Drop-in Center.
